So, you want to ride a horse. Now what?
Maybe you rode as a child and college or family took you off track or you recently tried trail riding and really loved it, whatever the reason, your first step is to find a credible instructor. There are lots of resources to help you in this journey including the U.S. Equestrian Federation, U.S. Dressage Federation and word of mouth. Make sure to talk with your potential instructor to feel out his or her intentions and style. This is a personal choice that depends on your goals and preferences.
Welcome to the section of McTaggart Equestrian dedicated to all of the hard working beginner riders out there. Whether it’s your first or tenth lesson, learning how to ride a horse can be overwhelming and confusing if not approached correctly. Sit up straight, put those heels down and take a deep breath and come along as Jessica McTaggart walks you through the basics of what you're likely to learn as part of your lesson each week in this
monthly series.
If you have a particular issue or question that you would like answer please include send Jessica McTaggart an email: jhmctaggart@gmail.com. If the question warrants it, a video will be made in response.
